Arrival

I have arrived in LA!
I touched down Sunday at 5pm west-coast time. I unloaded in my room and went for a walk outside to see what kind of boutiques I could find. I came back to the hotel with two bags. One bag with chocolate and red velvet cupcakes from the infamous "Famous Cupcakes"
YUM YUM YUM
Oh, the second bag had 2 large yogurts from Pinkberry- all for the premiere of True Blood. I was shocked by the instant nudity of Bill, Eric and Jason- but, hey, I am not complaining..
I can not believe that I get to meet everyone on Wed. of this week. Dream Come True.
BYE =)
P.S: The  pictures seen in this post= the view out of my room window here in LA.

Hermes

Here are some of my beloved Hermes Scarves. These items are collected and sought after by many. I have been collecting these scarves and ties- receiving one every year as a gift for Christmas's and Birthdays. But I can never seem to get the chance to wear them all- so I am selling them for a fraction of their original price. All of the scarves and ties you see(and more) are being sold at The Bee's Nest.

Pack back

DULUTH PACK

I was given this Authentic Duluth Pack from my new girl at my graduation. For those who do not know what a new girl is- it is essentially a new student to the school. Each girl is paired with a senior. This pairing is called Old Girl-New Girl. Simple. My new girl's name is Ali, and this was her parting gift to me- so sweet of her to even think of me. This bag is a combination of leather and dyed canvas. Mine is black with brown leather - classic colors which work for any fashion situation.  Canvas also happens to be perfect for an artist. This bag will be my good luck charm while I travel to LA today as my carry on. My favorite thing so far about this bag is the straps. The straps are thick and comfortable. Thank you so much Ali for making my senior year a blast and I hope you liked what I wrote in your year book. =)

Now on another note.....

Congratulations to my lovely seniors at Oldfield's School in Glencoe, MD. Sorry I couldn't be there to see you walk down the hill at Graduation but know I was there in spirit. Have a great summer !

Dress for success?

Typical protocol:
Why is it that when going on a job interview or a career meeting do we have to dress overly conservative? I am not saying that showing up for a meeting in your skivvies is a good idea-oh contrer. Many say that the reason is to "look more professional." Or that conservative is "safe" and the main purpose of the job interview is to - land the job. But it's hard for an eclectic fashionista such as myself to travel the conservative route on anything. Hmmmm, maybe if I add a Chanel ring like the one here? A little over the top? Maybe, but isn't that really me? What exactly am I supposed to be portraying at an interview..... who I am or some person that in reality, really isn't me? So who do I become for an upcoming interview? Someone who lands the job dressed one way only to show up for work dressed entirely different? Maybe a happy compromise - a little bit of me and a little bit conservative....so this outfit might just be my way of compromising.... So for all of you who now find yourself in a position of landing that perfect job and what to wear for the interview to land that spot I say.....be yourself.

Fashion: Purple and Blue jumpsuit and a Vintage white ruffle jacket with a belt that came with the jumpsuit. The ring, a Chanel clone that I picked up in St. Tropez, France. Shoes - Trina Turk.

Fiberwig Mascara

Fiberwig Mascara is the #1 mascara in Japan. I swear by this mascara. Fiberwig mascara does not smudge,is water resistant and comes off easily. Fiberwig mascara binds to your lashes to make them lush and beautiful and coats them like a "wig". How? This special mascara is engineered to have twice the micro fibers to make it dries instantly and make you have perfect lashes every time. My favorite thing about Fiberwig is how it does not damage my lashes- with warm water, the mascara just slips right off. Get yours today

Stupid Diesel

Diesel
In honor of Diesel: I am wearing total French Diesel in the photo's above.

Diesel has a new campaign,"Be Stupid."

I was completely thrown off by this new route and idea of "being stupid." I think it is a cool idea that will catch people's attention but I am interested as to how Diesel is going to take "being stupid" into their clothing.Click on the title: "Diesel" to go straight to their website and play around with all of their games and then share them. Enjoy...

Home Sweet Home...
I thought I would never make it, but summer is here and the nectarines are ripening. This time of year the farmer's markets thrive and the buyers like me win every time. My own little garden is not so traditional, for the deer are big fans of our strawberries- so we have moved the plant into a pot on the upstairs deck, Sorry deer. YUM

Fashion: Top to Bottom: Vintage red hat, "Lucky Brand" Kimono top, "Norma Komali" belt, white "Diesel" skirt and Vintage black- nude "Chanel"flats.

Ruby et Violette round 2

INCOMPARABLE

This is what happened...
Woke up at 7 am to prepare for the big day, Graduation. I hustled over to the Main Building for some water and that was when I saw I had a package. Having only 3 hours left on campus before Graduation was over and I was on my way home, I needed to retrieve my package. But who could be sending me a package this late? Perishable was on the outside of the box, I tried racking my brain as to who could have sent me this..Mom maybe? Nope.
Leaving from Graduation stuffed in the backseat of the car ready for a 3-1/2 hour drive, I thought I knew who this treat was from. Anything in a box with perishable on it has got to be something good. Upon opening the brown outside mailing box I came upon another box.....oh but this one was way different.... This box was amazing and I knew I was in for a treat but never would I have imagined what was about to unfold. A beautiful cream colored box tied with a black silk ribbon - very classy....but what I was about to see inside was....well....let's just say this decadent can't even describe what my eyes and stomach were about to behold. Inside I found two layers of Cookies and Brownies, but not just ordinary Cookies and Brownies might I add. This mysterious "box" was from "The Indulgent Baker" of what has become my favorite bakery - Ruby et Violette. My mother, brother and I had such a fun 3 and 1/2 hour drive eating these treats with names like "Sweet Seduction" "German Chocolate Cake", "Mimi's Molasses", "Espresso Bean", just to name a few. Such a great way to celebrate my graduation- plus, during the sampling in the car, I have found a new favorite among their delectable treats, which I honored by the title of this blog post....The "Incomparable" because of Ruby et Violette's brownie so aptly named - "Incomparable." Thanks to Ruby et Violette, I have now found the best brownie I have ever put into my mouth. The Incomparable brownie is packed with peanut butter , toffee, caramel, and white and dark chocolate chips. Sorry Mom but I think this brownie reigns supreme in the world of brownies! Its alright everyone because my Mom agrees!

Yum..... and thank you The Indulgent Baker and Ruby et Violette for making my graduation ....Incomparable!

If you want to try any of their decadent delicacies here's the info: (The box I described is called The Fountainebleau - Smooth, sophisticated beauty on the outside, blatant indulgence on the inside. I can attest to that!)

Nature Folk

My lovely friend Alex decided to do a photo shoot. We combined her vision of makeup and nature to form an expressive piece of facile artwork. Thank you so much Alex for asking me to model for you.

I have been thinking a lot about different circumstances and which ones deserve to be addressed and others that should be left to just "roll off the back." Throughout high school, disagreements happen- oh we all know- being a senior is usually when you look back on all of the petty arguments and laugh about how big of a deal you made some disagreements. We all know that the "heat" of an argument can be deceiving and lead us to address the situation full throttle (which is never really received well). But how do you know when to fire back and when to take the high road and just relax? Is taking the "high road,"on things, the best road? The only solution I can come up with is just be overly cautious, restrain animalistic anger tendencies and avoid disagreements at all times -.i.e- if you feel it coming on, just change the conversation to a neutral subject..... how bout the weather?... or treat it like a burp- if you feel the "disagreement" coming on, just excuse yourself. haha.
Enjoy some neutrality in your day...
Love, Carter

Fan Creation

1stJUNE . .

Hello,
Today I decided to share another one of my creations. This post is a perfect example of how things can go from practical to magical. First, I found a chic fan and then broke it apart into sections. The choker part of the necklace is the "stem" of the fan and the large neck bib was the "fanning part". I super glued a lining piece of fabric to the broken stem pieces and then- once dried- I placed ribbon on the fabric so that it would be fastened on the neck by tying it in the back. The bib part of this necklace is just done with the ribbon tie -as the fabric did not need any overlaying material. Voila!

I have my last exam today- Math- I feel it will end victoriously haha. All I need to do is take a deep breath look at my pencil, calculator, pencil again- then back at the paper and maybe channel alittle math genius-- I take my exam from 8:30-10-- If you are already on summer break just know that you have it so much better than me- not only are you done with anything related to "Natural Logs' "and school- but you get to sleep right on through it. Just wanted to put it in perspective for ya! haha

I have been getting a few inquires about what I am going to do, when the graduation day comes this Friday, about the name of my blog. I simply replied- "I picked this name because it is everlasting- though I leave the title of student and enter into an alumni- being a "Porter's girl" is something that you earn when you become and old girl and you can never leave that behind." Ultimately the name of my blog is sticking- I am just going to tweek the description up top to "graduate" and man, that title is long over due.
Eat LOTS today- Love, Carter
